DT Prefects support Year 1This term our DT Prefects got the opportunity to work with Year 1 at a local primary school. The Year 1 pupils spent the lesson creating a toy car using a range of workshop tools. The DT Prefects worked brilliantly with the younger pupils, supporting their practical work, thank you to all the girls involved!

Meet 'Polly' our 3D Printer
How do 3D printers work?
Once you have designed a 3D object using CAD, like google sketch up for example you can send the file to a 3D printer. The 3D printing process turns a whole object into thousands of tiny little slices, then makes it from the bottom-up, slice by slice. Those tiny layers stick together to form a solid object. Each layer can be very complex, meaning 3D printers can create moving parts like hinges and wheels as part of the same object. |
